How a Pouch Laminator Works

The pouch laminator is the special tool for laminating the documents, mails, badges by means of the lamination pouch which is usually fixed on one or in more rare cases on both sides of the machine. The lamination pouch from the inside is covered with the film, which is heated by means of the heating rolls. There may be from one to 4 or even 6 rolls, depending on the pressure and laminating needs. The pouch with the laminate and the print with the document to be laminated are all passing through the heated rolls, which also provide the pressure, that sticks the film to the needed substrate. At present time the pouch laminating machines are the most widely used machines for laminating in the small offices, at home or in the small photo-studios. Due to its simplicity and the small size, this machine can easily fit in any interior, it is not very noisy and is really affordable for every person.

The rollers are spreading the heat among the surface of the laminated document equally, but it is better if there are more rollers, as the more rollers there are, the more well-stuck the laminated object will be with the film, and the less amount of waves there will appear. The pouch laminators with two rollers may be not so sufficiently equally laminating from the first time of the process, so there may be needed two times for the document to be laminated properly.

The most new models of pouch laminators are usually not supplied with the carrier. But we recommend to use it, to avoid the possible leaks of the glue on the rolls, which may shorten the period of laminator exploitation.

In some new models of pouch laminators you may adjust the temperature of rolls heating, there is also the special option for avoiding the possible document jams which may happen.  Most of the new models of pouch laminators are supplied with the stand-by option, which helps to save the energy.

Choose the Right Pouch Laminator

If you want the pouch laminator for the home use it is better to choose the models with the low level of noise. It is comfortable when the laminator has the handle for carrying, some of the models are designed with the back-to-front document feeding type, which enables to easily control the process of lamination.

Some of the new models of pouch laminators are supplied with additional heated plates, situated in the bottom, so that the document is laminated from both sides and the heat is equally spread on the whole document’s surface. For laminating sensitive products, it is better to purchase the pouch laminator which has an option of cold switch, not to damage the laminated fragile items. To provide the level of lamination which will be like photo quality one, it is better to use the regime of cold rolling, which most of the new carrier-free models have. This regime is usually available plus to the normal dual heating temperature modes. The latest models are warming up very quickly – it may take only one minute for the pouch laminator to be ready to start. The speed of the laminators may vary due to the level of the duty heaviness – the more heavy duties there are the more speed is required. It may be from six to thirty inches/minute speed. To avoid possible jams it is better when the model of the laminator is supplied with the forward-reverse switcher, by means of which you can stop the possible jamming.  It is also better for the purposes of energy saving, when the laminator has the standby regime.
